Hi all, 

I recently looked through the ebook section and saw the variety of prices and afterwards was a little confused which led me here (sorry if this is the wrong section in advance) but my question is this - why is there no option to “max out” or purchase a book translation before it’s done? If I had to make a conservative guess, I can confidently say I’ve spent $500 on chapters for Star Odyssey, one of my favorite novels of all time on this site. It seems a little disingenuous to 1. Charge monthly plans for chapter advances that are much more than the books (or the book you’re subscribing to) would cost. 2. It’s monthly so if you don’t want to spend $300 month for the now 2 chapter update it reverts back and you have to wait literal months to catch back up.

 

don’t get me wrong - I love supporting the author/translators & everyone involved it just seems a little egregious to pay 100’s of dollars for a book you can’t own in exchange for a monthly subscription and 2 advance chapters when you catch up. Of course, I’ll continue to support but I would love to get a reply to this as someone who’s been using this site for the past 5-6 years.

literally the reason why i only buy finished ebooks. way way more affordable and actually reasonable priced. I also love buying physical books even if they are more expensive, but still only like 25 bucks.
