App crashes constantly while listening to TTS.

1) Go to a story and press start TTS using default voice and "Auto next chapter" enabled

2) Screen goes dormant after a few minutes as phones are want to do.

3) An arbitrary amount of time afterwards the TTS suddenly stops, often in the middle of a word (I.E., not due to the end of a chapter)

3.5) This can take as short as 1 minute or as long as 20 minutes, although it tends towards the former.

4) When I unlock the phone it'll open up to home screen and when I navigate back to the WW app, it'll reload and display the app's frontpage.

5) It'll also have lost my progress resetting me to the start of the latest chapter I've read.

I have tried to re-install the app and this issue was not present in the old apps you guys had a few years ago, so it's a relatively recent regression.

Platform: OnePlus nord T2, Android 14. Security update 5th June 2024.

 

Please advice how to fix this as it renders TTS useless.

I can see a similar issue of the app crashing was reported on the app store five months ago.

I had the exact same issue on my Pixel 8 Pro. I was able to fix it by:

1. Opening up the Wuxiaworld App settings

2. Tapping 'App Battery Usage'

3. Turning on 'Allow Background Usage'

4. TAPPING 'Allow Background Usage' (not the slider, but the WORDS), which took me one later deeper so I could switch it from 'optimized' to 'unrestricted'

This was all done on the newest update of Android 14, so it may be slightly different on older versions, but the key is the 'unrestricted' part of the background battery usage.

I had the exact same issues that you did, but they've been completely gone since I changed this single setting. I even fall asleep to a novel's TTS sometimes, and it's still playing when I wake up. Then I have to rewind like 80 to 100 chapters lol
