    Following Lord Fifth's example, my "hidden gems" list, without any "hot"-ranked series on mangafox:

    > Baby Steps (sport manga about tennis);
    > Bradherley No Basha (horror manga about fucked up rich people);
    > Daya no A (sport manga about baseball);
    > Dungeon Meshi (adventure manga about cooking);
    > Gyo (horror manga about horrible things);
    > Holyland (martial arts manga about street fightning);
    > How I Stalked Some Dude With An Exposed Nipple And Stumbled Upon The Zenithian Sword (adventure manga that relies heavily on Dragon Quest game series' lore)
    > Innocent (historic manga about the French Revolution);
    > Investor Z (school and educational manga about finance, investing and economics);
    > Kenji (martial arts and educational manga about kung fu);
    > Kokou No Hito (psychological manga about hiking);
    > Monster (thriller manga with tinges of horror and psychological drama);
    > One Outs (sport manga about baseball, psychology and gambling);
    > Ping Pong (sport manga about table tennis - might be better watching the anime);
    > Real (drama manga about disabled people);
    > Shamo (martial arts manga about a fucked up dude);
    > Shigurui (martial arts manga about vengeance and sword fighting);
    > Sidooh (historic manga about Japan's republican civil war);
    > Silver Spoon (school manga about farming);
    > Tetsuan Girl (sport and historic manga about female baseball);
    > Yae No Sakura (historic manga about Japan's firearm and civil war history);

  • I have to agrre that those sports manga are amazing. Unlike the bullshitt Prince of Tennis with bullshit physics, Baby Steps is amazing and realisitic. And Ace of Diamond is one of the best baseball manga that doesn't follow the underdog cliche. I have to say those r really good manga.
    Have faith in the Lord Fifth, gain eternal life! When the Lord Fifth appears, who dares to cause strife!
  • Yeah, I really dislike sports manga that relies on semi-magic gimmicks like Prince of Tennis. And even though I do like some magic-y martial arts mangas, I'd say my heart's those that stay reasonable and mundane.

    My memory sucks so I can't really bring out a complete list of the hundreds I've read so far, but I'm currently following these:
    .
    1. Shokugeki no Soma (best manga about cooking)
    2. Kingdom (two orphans aiming to become generals in the state of Qin during the Warring States period of China)
    .
    Highly recommend both.
  • I like Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (assassination classroom), however after having a GIANT spoiler thrown at me I can't find the will to read it. Ofc I follow the anime because karma is a fricking god and the flat jokes bout Kaede, but can't read the manga.

    I also enjoy reading manga, because I like comparing the good of both xianxia and manga. Like for example, in an anime I just watched I really hated the indecisiveness of the mc, but I liked how it's light-hearted.

    List of Manga/manwha/manhua:
    Shokugeki No Soma
    Black Haze
    The God Of Highschool
    Shen Yin Wang Zuo
    Kouritsu Kuriya Madoushi,Daini No Jinsei De Madou O Kiwameru
    Santa (Silyeong)
    The Gamer
    Tower Of God
    Zui Wu Dao
    Wu Dong Qian Kun
    Battle Through The Heavens
    Black Clover
    Crepescule
    DICE
    Good Reaper
    Kuro No Tantei
    Kuroko No basket (extra game)
    Desolate Era
    Soul Cartel
    The Strongest

  • Takahashi Tsutomu (Sidooh and Tetsuwan Girl, among other works) has a new boxing series being translated, Black-Box. His drawings are spectacular and dynamic and his stories are compelling and dramatic, I'm really eager to see what's up ahead for us in this new manga.

    I would add the following to the list:

    - Hokuto no Ken

    - Shura no Mon

    - The Ruler of The Land <-------This manhwa has great character development

    - Yongbi

    - Mujang

    - Lone Wolf and Cub <---------A classic that should be on everyones list

    Is lone wolf and cub episodic or does it have a proper storyline? I had to drop it after a few chapters because of work and have not picked it up since. Until the point where I had read it was just about the MC going around and killing his targets.

    Anyway my favorite manga - I have read only about 10-15 manga so far but here are a few I think everyone should check out:

    - Akira (the manga puts the movie to shame)
    - Nausicaa of the valley of the wind (like akira the manga is far better than the movie)
    - Buddha (Manga about prince Siddhartha who later became known as Buddha)
    - Monster (Psychological thriller about a doctor trying to chase a dangerous serial killer)
    - Annarasumanara (Psychological romance manga about a girl learning how to become a magician)
    - Planetes (Manga about space exploration. I haven't finished it yet but it is really good so far)
    - Omoide Emanon (Manga about a girl having a billion year old memory dating back to the point when life first appeared on earth)
  • Is anyone into darker fantasy, like Berserk or Zetman?
    Yes, Berserk is better. There is also that one about that guy that becomes a gang leader sun-ken rock.

    - Yongbi

    - Lone Wolf and Cub <---------A classic that should be on everyones list

    The one manhua that best resembles xianxia is Feng Shen Ji.

    The manhua that best resembles the style of One Piece is Zui Wu Dao and is pretty good.

    I am glad that people have mentioned Kingdom in this thread.

    Yes, yes to all of this. Also there are some pretty good ones where the mc is transported to a fantasy world like Re:monster, but the mc gets op quick.
