Why are Planets often referred to a Stars?

In several novels that I have read, what we call Planets are referred to a Stars.  I was wondering if this is a Translation matter or if it is related to a Chinese historical precedent/perception?

Or maybe it's their astrological system
  • I thought it was because plants look like stars when you look at them from really far distances.
  • might be a mistranslation. Planet is 行星 in chinese. 星 meaning star.
  • Maybe because their planets have nothing in common with ours.
They don't rotate around a star, they are so huge thats their planets are even bigger than the sun (MC usually casually walks 10 000 miles each step, so 2 steps to go around the earth)
the planets are also some kind of world.
So planet ? stars ? Well we can't compare it to our world, so both words are wrong since ti's not a planet, neither a star.
